Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - Porkins Goes Down

Oh that George Lucas, the fattest human in the Star Wars galaxy and he names him Porkins. Jek Porkins to be exact, aka "Belly Runner" aka "Piggy." Damn it Porkins! Why couldn't you just pull up? Was it because you were so fat? Are we led to believe your enormous ass brought down that X-wing? That if you lost a couple of pounds before the Battle of Yavin, you would still be alive? Well it wouldn't have hurt, but unfortunately no. According to Wookieepedia he was unable to judge his altitude because his instruments were malfunctioning from an earlier explosion. NOT because of his weight. R.I.P. Jek Porkins. The man gave his life for the rebellion and we will always remember him by those last words.....

Critters 2: The Main Course - Critter Ball

As the townspeople start to celebrate thinking all the critters have been killed in the burger shop explosion, the Crites merge together into a large flesh eating ball and break through the burning building. The townspeople run away in horror, but one of them falls behind and gets steamrolled by the critter ball. The critters devour his flesh in an instant as all that's left behind is a twitching bloody skeleton.

District 9 - Venter Gets Ripped Apart

As Wikus is crawling out of the wrecked battle suit, our antagonist Koobus Venter, the sadistic mercenary with a dislike for prawns finally catches up with him. As Venter prepares to kill Wikus, several enraged aliens quickly surround him. Venter fires off a couple rounds before the creatures get close, but the aliens overpower and grab him. One of the prawns grabs Venter's head and forcefully rips it off, soon after the other aliens converge and dismember his body limb from limb. If you look closely you can see one of the aliens trying to eat Venter's head.

Timecop - Same Matter, Same Space

The same matter cannot occupy the same space. That's the major rule when you're time traveling in Timecop, you can't come in direct contact with your past self. This rule is broken when when Walker(Jean-Claude Van Damme) kicks the younger McComb(Ron Silver) into the older one. The two McCombs fuse together into a writhing blob of bad CGI flesh until the mass disappears into the floor.

Predator - Blain's Death

Jesse "the body" Ventura shines in his role as sergeant Blain. Equipped with a modified M134 minigun he calls "Ol' Painless" and an attitude, Blain's death sets up Mac's actions for the rest of the film and gives us our first main death scene. Along the way, the tobacco chewing, MTV shirt wearing soldier also manages to give us the classic line, "I ain't got time to bleed." While scouting the forest, Blain sees something in the bushes......and the fun begins.

Predator - Death Scenes

This week we will take a look at the death scenes from the epic 80's action flick, Predator. This movie has a number of strong elements, but what really makes the film work is the Predator himself. Kevin Peter Hall, the man under the suit brings the character of the Predator to life using only gestures and body language. The Predator is a killing machine, armed with wrist blades, a plasma caster with triangular laser rangefinder, and many other advanced technological weapons all used to give us some great death scenes.

Avatar this and Avatar that, no matter what you think of James Cameron's newest $387m blockbuster, we've got to give the guy credit for creating one of the most mind blowing sci-fi/action films of the 80's. No, not Piranha 2: The Spawning, 1984's The Terminator. A machine sent back in time to assassinate the mother of John Connor, leader of the human resistance and wipe him from history. What a premise. This was one of those scenes that brought us into James Cameron's grim post nuclear future. We see resistance fighter Kyle Reese taking on a giant Hunter-Killer Tank by throwing a demolition charge under it's tread. A great scene with a great movie death, as one unlucky resistance fighter gets blasted to pieces when the HK-Tank shoots her with a plasma round as she attempts to throw a demolition charge.

The Thing - Defibrillator Scene

When Norris appears to suffer a heart attack, Dr. Copper attempts to use a defibrillator on him. Norris' body transforms into a mouth and bites Copper's arms off, killing him.

Enemy Mine - Rock Crusher

In this scene from Enemy Mine, Davidge(Dennis Quaid) goes after the miners to rescue Zammis and bring him back. During his search he runs into an abusive slave master with a whip. A fight ensues and the two end up dangling over a rock crusher. Davidge pulls a slick move and throws the slave master into the Spiral Classifier, killing him instantly.

Alien Resurrection - Headbuster

Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a unique visual genius, so it was interesting to see him apply that talent to the Alien series. While some think it may be the weakest of the series, it's still pretty entertaining and full of creative death scenes. In this clip, Pulvis(Leland Orser) gives birth to a beautiful healthy baby alien. Only difference is he's holding Dr. Wren(J.E. Freeman) in front of him.

Transformers: The Movie - The Death of Optimus Prime

It doesn't bother me that something I loved as a child has become a popular bastardized version of itself. What bothers me is that the new generation will never fully understand what made Transformers so iconic and why the live action films will never come close to the greatness of G1. We all had our favorite heroes and villains that we grew to love, but how can we now when our favorite robots don't have personalities? The new films aren't even about the Transformers, they're about special effects. The Transformers don't resemble themselves, they're incredibly shallow and simple. And since when did humans get this much face time in any of the Transformers series? The Transformers bread and butter has always been the interaction between the Autobots and Decepticons, who gives a fuck about the American military in a Transformers movie? Thank goodness for the 1986 animated film Transformers: The Movie, sure it was a marketing ploy to push the toys, but it was a marketing ploy with emotion god dammit. We cared about Optimus and we hated Hot Rod for what he did, we had actual feelings towards the characters, now all we care about is Megan Fox and CGI explosions. Sad.

Alien 3 - Ripley's Dive

Ripley, carrying the alien Queen growing inside her, makes the ultimate sacrifice by throwing herself into a gigantic furnace. As she falls, the queen bursts out of her chest, but Ripley grabs the creature and holds on to it as she falls into the fire.

Terminator 2 - Thumbs Up

I'm not usually for posting non-human death scenes, but this is one for the books. The Terminator sacrifices himself, asking Sarah to lower him into a vat of molten steel so that his technology cannot be used to create Skynet.

Great scene from a great movie. Proves you don't need blood or gore for a great movie death.

Johnny Mnemonic - Laser Whip Decapitation

In the climax of the 1995 film Johnny Mnemonic, Johnny and bad guy Shinji are dangling from a cargo net high above the water. During the struggle, Johnny manages to grab Shinji's laser whip and wrap it around his head. The laser slices through his neck, sending Shinji and his head into the waters below.
