Battle Royale - Megumi's Death

Megumi Eto Girl #3

Megumi is the first of Mitsuko's many victims. While hiding out in an abandoned house, she is found by Mitsuko. Mitsuko then sits down next to her and the two converse briefly. After lulling her into a false sense of security, Mitsuko lunges at Megumi. Megumi ends up with Mitsuko's kama (similar to a sickle) at her throat. Mitsuko then tells her that she found Yoji Kuramoto and Yoshimi Yahagi dead next door (they both committed suicide by hanging themselves). Mitsuko shouts "I'll never die like that," and finally slashes Megumi's throat, which erupts in a fountain of blood.

-----I think she's bleeding

Poor Nobu's windpipe was blown to pieces..all for the sake of comedy

Battle Royale Week!

This week we will be celebrating the greatest deaths from the 2000 classic Battle Royale.

With the unemployment rate and youth delinquency count rising in Japan, the government passes a new law called the “BR-Act” where each year a class of 9th graders: friends, enemies, lovers are chosen at random, dropped on a remote island, given various weapons and forced to kill each other off until there's only one left. What a concept!

We are treated to some great movie deaths here. From exploding heads, slit throats, and a crotch stabbing to bloody shootouts involving 15 year old girls....this movie has it all......so sit back relax and enter the Battle Royale....

Saving Private Ryan - Knife Fight

Why is this scene so epic? because the German soldier actually wins. We are so used to seeing the American soldier kill the enemy in so many films, but this scene throws us off guard and really captures the brutality of war. The way the American GI attempts to plead for his life, it's powerful and realistic. Poor Mellish, god damn you Upham....

Translation of what the German soldier says
(can anybody confirm this?)
- Give up, you don't got a chance, let's end this
- It's easier for you, much easier, you will see it's soon over, shh shh ...

Ghosts of Mars - Clea DuVall Decapitation

Oh shit......

If you are looking for some quality kills and great decapitations, then Ghosts of Mars is for you. There are decapitations galore. Throughout the film, the Goths (humans possessed by the "Ghosts of Mars") throw saw blades at our protagonists, chopping off limbs and heads without flinching. In this scene Clea DuVall tries to pull off her best Neo impersonation by dodging razor sharp saw blades, if you haven't guessed already, she Fails.....

Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child - Paper Cuts

In Dream Child, geeky comic-book fanatic Mark, gets sucked inside a "Nightmare" comic starring Freddy Krueger himself. Using his “comic book” powers, Mark turns into a gun-toting comic book hero and blasts away at Krueger. Not enough to stop him, Freddy pops back up and transforms into SUPER FREDDY and then literally rips Mark to pieces. Leaving him looking like a pile of confetti on the floor.

"Faster than a bastard-maniac, more powerful than a loco-madman, it's Super Freddy!"

Prophecy - Bitch Slapped Sleeping Bag

Why are all movie deaths involving sleeping bags so great? This scene from Prophecy is no exception. In the most memorable scene from the film, a kid in a sleeping bag tries to outrun a mutant bear only to get smacked by the beast's tale and catapulted across the campsite, busting the bag into a shower of feathers.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors - Welcome to Primetime Bitch!

While this is where Freddy becomes the one-liner king, Dream Warriors is one of the better sequels. In this scene, Jennifer (Penelope Sudrow) falls asleep while watching the Dick Cavett Show. The TV goes fuzzy and as she tried to change the channel it grows arms and Freddy's head busts out picking her up and smashing her head through the screen while delivering the line: "Welcome to Primetime Bitch!"

The Leprechaun - Pogo Stick of Death

You would never think of being killed by a leprechaun on a pogo stick. That is until The Leprechaun came out in 1993. The Leprechaun series is full of great deaths, but this was one of his originals. There's a lesson here somewhere. Don't fucking steal a leprechaun's gold or he'll kill you with a pogo stick while singing “This ol’ Lep/he plays one/He plays pogo on his lung.”

Warwick Davis, the man behind the Leprechaun

I don't get it, Michael Phelps loses Kellogg's as a sponsorship for smoking some pot, but the Leprechaun still graces the cover of a Lucky Charms box.......

Men Behind the Sun - Unit 731

I usually don't warn people about these videos, with the title "Greatest Movie Deaths of All Time" I really don't think I have to. But this clip is an exception, it's just really fucked.

Men Behind the Sun is a graphic depiction of the war atrocities committed by the Japanese at Unit 731, the secret biological weapons experimentation unit of the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The film details the various cruel medical experiments Unit 731 inflicted upon the Chinese and Soviet prisoners at the tail-end of the war.

0:00 - Bomb Test
1:00 - Decompression Chamber Test
2:50 - Freezing Test

This is the first movie rated "III" (equivalent to US Rating NC-17) in Hong Kong and you'll see why......don't say I didn't warn you.

Reservoir Dogs - Who shot Nice Guy Eddie?

Fast forward to the scene in the warehouse at the end where everyone shoots each other and we have our biggest controversy since Han vs Gredo. The "who shot Nice Guy Eddie" argument. OK, here's how it went down: Pink's cowering under the loading ramp, Joe's pointing his gun at Orange, White's pointing his at Joe, and Eddie's pointing his at White. After screaming "stop pointing that fucking gun at my dad!" the fun begins.......

Theory #1 - Mr. White shoots Eddie. Right after White gets shot, as he's falling you see his gun go off again before he hits the floor, pointing at Eddie.
FALSE - Although Mr. White seems to turn towards Eddie and fire, he didn't swing his gun around enough to have a good enough shot.

Theory #2
- Mr. Orange shot Eddie
FALSE - Mr. Orange couldn't shoot Nice Guy Eddie because he didn't have any bullets left after shooting Mr. Blonde, also look closely, no gun in his hands.

Theory #3
- Mr. Pink shot Eddie. Pink was hiding under the ramp yes, but when he walks out his gun is in his hand. Did Pink shoot Eddie so he could get away with the money?
FALSE - Why would Mr Pink shoot Nice Guy Eddie? He wasn't close to Mr. Orange like White was. The way Eddie was standing was pretty much perpendicular to where Pink was and the shot almost in the middle of his belly.

THE TRUTH
The following is an extract from an interview with Chris Penn, from Empire magazine, September 1996:

"I'll set the record straight", chortles Chris Penn. "Nobody shot nice guy Eddie. It was a mistake. What was supposed to happen - and I don't know if Quentin's gonna like me giving this away, but it's too late now, he never told me not to - Harvey Keitel was supposed to shoot Lawrence Tierney, then shoot me, then get squibbed. But what happened was the squib (a small explosive charge resembling a bullet hit) on Harvey went right off after he shot Lawrence, so he went down, but my squib went off anyway, so I went down. So, basically nobody shot Nice Guy Eddie.
Quentin said "You know what? It'll be the biggest controversy of the film. We're leaving it."

He was definitely right. And thus a chapter in movie death history is brought to a close. There you have it.

see for yourself!

Yakuza Demon - "You're way too cool man"

Yakuza Demon is a gritty classic crime drama with a different method of operation. It shows the honor, respect, and loyalty that some Yakuza pay the ultimate price for. In the final scene, Seiji (the always great Riki Takeuchi), finally without a gun and ready to start a new and different life is through with his past but the past isn't through with him. The Tendo syndicate closes in on him and open fire as Seiji blocks all the shots from hitting Boss Muto's wife. We realize just how badass Seiji really was with the last line of the film before the credits roll.

Exiled - Final Shootout

As far as I'm concerned, Johnnie To is the best Hong Kong action director since John Woo. Exiled is a spectacle of violence and pure awesomeness that keeps you entertained till the very end. In the beautifully choreographed climactic shoot out, all hell breaks loose in the time it takes a Red Bull can to fall to the floor in slow motion. As a Johnnie To film, I'd have to recommend this movie to any old school HK action fan that misses the days of Chow Yun Fat shooting up a tea house. Add heart, amazing camera movements, and excellent use of lighting and you have Exiled.

Go to 7:30 of the video if you want to go straight to the good stuff

Memories of Murder - The Only Witness

In this scene from the Epic film Memories of Murder, local detective Park Doo-man (Kang-ho Song) and big-city detective Seo Tae-yoon (Sang-kyung Kim) attempt to extract information from the village idiot Kwang-ho (Park Noh-sik). When they realize that the retarded boy witnessed one of the crimes and try to speak to him, they frighten him so badly that he runs in front of an oncoming train and killed before he can identify the murderer, leaving only his fake Nike sneaker. If you are after an intelligent and thrilling emotional rollercoaster ride of a film, I'd highly HIGHLY recommend Memories of Murder.

C.O.D. - Hit by oncoming train

Victim - Kwang-ho (Park Noh-sik)

Famous Last Words - "Stay away, go...." --Kwang-ho

In the final showdown from the film No Escape Capt. J.T. Robbins (Ray Liotta) fights Walter Marek (Stuart Wilson), the brutal leader of the 'outsiders' atop a wooden tower. With help of a last second distraction from The Father (Lance Henriksen), Robbins knocks Marek onto the wooden spikes below.

Frontiers - Table Saw Scene

In this scene from the French film Frontiers, Yasmine teaches one of the neo-Nazis why you never call a woman with an axe a slut. After a couple hacks, Yasmine forces the guy on a table saw and holds him down while being drenched in blood.
