King Kong - The Fall of Kong

A classic, the death of King Kong. The military dispatches Helldiver biplanes to destroy Kong atop the Empire State Building. The ape gently sets Ann down on the observation deck and tries to fend off the attackers. He manages to swat one plane down, but in the end he is mortally wounded by machine-gun fire and plummets to his death in the street below. We then learn it 'twas beauty killed the beast and not the 102-story drop.

True Romance - The Sicilian Scene (Worley's Death)

An Epic scene between Worley(Dennis Hopper) and Vincent Coccotti(Christopher Walken) from the film True Romance. Coccotti is questioning Worley as to the whereabouts of his son. Knowing he is gonna die, Worley brings up the ancestry of the Sicilians and mocks Coccotti till he blows his lid and shoots Worley several times in the head.

Ghost - Carl's Death

A very underrated death scene from the 1990 film Ghost. In the climax of the movie, Carl, pissed off after Sam "donated" all his money to charity tries to come after Molly. Sam intervenes and pulls a couple classic moves from the poltergeist handbook. Fighting in vain to stop Sam's attacks, Carl foolishly swings a hanging hook at him.

------- "Nice try Carl"

The hook completely misses Sam (because he's a ghost) and swings back, shattering an open window, which falls and kills Carl in bloody fashion. Then the shadows around him rise from the ground and take the shape of demons, which drag him into darkness as his scream echoes away.

The Omen - Decapitation Remake

Of course the original decapitation can't be beat, but the death of Keith Jennings in the remake should not be scoffed at. In the original film, Jennings is decapitated by a piece of glass catapulted off the back of a truck. In the remake, he is decapitated by a falling sign. hmmm, which do you prefer?

Gozu - Death of a Yakuza Attack Dog

Scene from the 2003 Takashi Miike film Gozu. Ozaki(Sho Aikawa) takes care of a vicious Yakuza attack dog and begins his journey into the bizarre; full of breast milk, cow heads, and anal soup ladles. One of my personal favorite Miike films.

Let's Review: Kevin's appendages are removed, he's eaten alive by a wolf, and then decapitated. Yup, that just about qualifies as epic.

Demonia - Human Wishbone

The standout scene in Lucio Fulci's Demonia involves a man split in two by tree branches. A standout effect in the movie if you can make it through the whole thing, not one of Fulci's best.

Halloween - Michael Myers' First Kill

The amazing opening exterior-to-interior tracking shot of the original Halloween, clearly inspired by Orsen Welles' Touch of Evil, has quickly become a slasher film standard. The tracking shot is presented from the point-of-view of 6-year old Michael Myers who proceeds to grab a butcher knife from the kitchen, go upstairs, and stab his sister Judith several times. From the moment the tiny mask is put on through to the scary realization of who our killer is...a truly terrifying scene.

Deep Red - Decapitation

Another great death by the master Dario Argento. In the climax of the film Deep Red, Martha confronts Marcus with a butcher knife. In the struggle, Martha's necklace becomes entangled in the bars of an elevator shaft that then ascends, lifting her into the air until she is decapitated.
