Oh boy, where do I begin? First off, not all Japanese films are like this and not all Japanese people like these kind of movies. This is the same country that gave us Akira Kurosawa, Yasujiro Ozu, and Kenji Mizoguchi; Japanese directors who have created some of the most critically acclaimed films off all time. Just like in America, there are different subgenres of horror that deliberately focus on graphic portrayals of gore and violence. We here in the States call it a 'splatter' or 'gore film'. Not everyone's cup of tea(though this film is actually received well by critics), but it's right up Greatest Movie Death's alley and today we give praise to the Japanese Gore genre with a scene from Tokyo Gore Police.
The film is set in a futuristic and chaotic Japan where a virus that mutates humans into monstrous creatures called "Engineers" has been released. The virus causes bizarre weapons to sprout from any injury. Our heroine Ruka is helping the police force in order to find her father's killer. In this clip we see Riku take out a bad guy with her newly equipped claw-hand.
This clip is actually pretty tame compared to other classic scenes from the movie, like gator girl, Penis Cannon, amputee ninja, and many more to come...

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter - Crispin Glover's Last Dance

Jimmy decides to celebrate scoring with Tina with a carefree bottle of wine. While searching for a corkscrew, little does he know Jason freakin' Voorhees is lurking in the shadows, emerging to slam the corkscrew into Jimmy's hand and then driving a meat cleaver in his face....
But this fantastic death scene is totally overshadowed by Jimmy awesome dance......
What is your favorite Friday the 13th death?

Inglourious Basterds- Hitler's Death
Did you really expect the Basterds to fail their mission just so Hitler can kill himself in a bunker with Eva Braun? Not in Tarantino's world. In Tarantino's world, Hitler was brutally gunned down in that theater. Quentin Tarantino fulfills historical fantasy by giving Adolf the final exit he so rightfully deserved. During the assassination attempt in the theater, Donny aka "The Bear Jew" and Omar gun Hitler and Goebbels down in the opera box. The money shot comes soon after when Donny(Eli Roth) unloads a whole clip into Adolf, blasting his face into pieces and we learn that movies are so empowering they can even alter history.

Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight - Death Punch

As Sheriff Tupper and Deputy Bob are about to take the Collector(Billy Zane) into custody, he punches the sheriff in the face, driving his fist right through his head. Never mess with a high-level demon that looks like Billy Zane wearing a cowboy hat. They're dangerous.

The Fly 2 - Acid Loogie!
Some of the best death scenes have come from the lonely security guard who we have no attachment to. Take this scene from the Fly 2 for example, our victim gets a surprised from the fly when he hocks an acid loogie in his face. The guard screams in horror as he rips his own face off. Gore! Fuck yeah!
C.O.D. - Acid loogie to the face
Victim - Security Guard 'A'
Assailant - Martin Brundle (Martin Brundle)
Famous Last Words - "Sorry guys, looks like I lost him. There's no sign of him anywhere" -- Security Guard 'A'

Friday the 13th part 2 - Classic Machete to the Face
Why is this death a classic? For the simple fact that Voorhees just don't give a fuck. Killing a handicapped dude in a wheelchair, now that's a cold motherfucker.
