Final Destination 5 - Bridge Collapse Scene

Say what you will about the Final Destination films, but there is never a lack of great death scenes in those movies. The newest is no exception. The bridge scene was surprisingly well done, better than the previous two film's "vision disasters." One highlight is the death of Peter(Miles Fisher). As he's hanging onto a railing of the collapsing bridge, a truck full of construction materials rolls backwards above him. Suddenly a jolt from the bridge causes some rebar to fall out of the truck impaling Peter before he splatters onto the concrete substructure below.

Oh those Final Destination movies, there's only one reason we watch them......Movie Deaths. The bloodier and messier, the better. Who can forget the car crash from part 2 or that bitch getting run over by a bus in the first one. Sure, the movies have been getting worse and worse by each sequel, but the movie deaths are as bloody as ever....

In this scene, some dumb broad gets her foot stuck in an escalator. Shortly she gets sucked into the machine and crushed. Blood and guts get sprayed everywhere as she is ground up inside the escalator.
Next time.......take the stairs

The newest installment of the Final Destination series uses RealD Cinema technology. This 3D technology is put to good use in the opening racetrack sequence of the film. Very effective, but after that scene the 3D experience really slows down as if they gave up on novelty of it. They know what the audience wants and we know what we're getting into. Shit acting, bad dialog, and on-screen death scenes all in glorious HD 3D.

Looks like in this edition of the Final Destination series we have deaths by escalator, car wash, and flying car parts. All in the glory of 3-D. I assume the acting will be Oscar worthy and the script to.....ah, who are we kidding, Movie Deaths!

Final Destination 2 - Massive Pile Up

We're gonna finish Car Accident week off with a bang. This clip is arguably the most brutal car accident in movie history. The special edition DVD is a must, it includes how the whole scene was choreographed and filmed. From the toy cars they used to plan the sequence to the CGI logs used to plow into the police car(they tried using real logs but they didn't bounce enough) I recommend the DVD to any movie buff interested in how they created those fantastic deaths. Yesterday's movie death involved Brad Pitt getting blindsided by a van in the scene from Meet Joe Black. Today is essentially the same, except with a Final Destination twist which involves more blood, guts, and gore. In this scene from Final Destination, Terry walks out into the middle of the street (without looking both ways) and is greeted by the city bus in a bloody explosion. Both scenes pretty similar, both entertaining, but which do you prefer?

Today's Decap come at the hands of death himself. A piece of metal shrapnel is propelled up from a speeding train and cuts the top part of Billy's jaw off. His head rolls away while the body is still standing. After the train passes, the body drops in glorious fashion. The Final Destination movies have been so popular that it also spawned a series of related novels, the Final Destination books. Recently, Zenescope Entertainment has begun producing a series of Final Destination comic books mini-series called Final Destination: Death Never Takes a Vacation, featuring a trip to Cancun gone wrong. Another Final Destination movie?
