The Descent - Death by Projectile
The opening scene from The Descent might look like just another car crash death, well it is, except it involves a few deadly projectiles. In the clip, the other car involved is carrying some copper pipes that fly into the windshield and violently impale the driver.
Death Proof - Tarantino's Crash
With the use of computer generated imagery (C.G.I.) becoming more popular; the danger in movie stunts, explosions, and car crashes is eliminated. Some argue C.G.I. devalues the realism and thrill factor. Some movie makers refuse to use C.G.I. in their films. In this scene from Death Proof, Tarantino used real cars to make the crash as violent as possible. Tell us what you think, C.G.I. or the real thing.

Dawn of Dead - Hit & Run
Another car accident for everyone to go along with our theme for the week. This clip is from the Dawn of the Dead remake and no, it doesn't involve zombies. After Ana escapes from her zombie husband, she darts for the car to escape. The neighbor is out in the middle of the street with a gun trying to figure out if he should shoot her and gets smacked by an oncoming ambulance.

Final Destination - Always Look Both Ways
Yesterday's movie death involved Brad Pitt getting blindsided by a van in the scene from Meet Joe Black. Today is essentially the same, except with a Final Destination twist which involves more blood, guts, and gore. In this scene from Final Destination, Terry walks out into the middle of the street (without looking both ways) and is greeted by the city bus in a bloody explosion. Both scenes pretty similar, both entertaining, but which do you prefer?

To kick off Car Accident Week, we have Brad Pitt's death scene from Meet Joe Black. Brad starts to day dream about the gorgeous Claire Forlani in the wrong place. A busy intersection! After narrowly missing a speeding car, a van blindsides him and flips him in the windshield of an oncoming taxi cab. Fantastic!

CAR CRASH MOVIE DEATHS
Car Crash movie deaths. The best death scenes involving a vehicle. This includes: getting run over, crashing, explosions, whatever! The automobile has played a large role in cinema since the beginning. From 1968's Bullitt to John Frankenheimer's Ronin in 1998, the destruction of vehicles come as a delight to viewers. Car crashes have continually become more advanced throughout the years, but premise has been the same, to entertain. The "symphony of collision" always engages the audience and if some poor schmo flies through the windshield, even better!

Alien - Chestbuster Classic
This is the special extended version of the scene, with extra never-before-seen cuts.
Probably one of the most recognizable movie deaths in film history. In the scene, known as the "chestbuster" sequence, John Hurt stuck his head, shoulders and arms through a hole in the mess table, linking up with a mechanical torso that was packed with compressed air (to create the forceful exit of the alien) and lots of animal guts. The rest of the cast were not told that real guts were being used so as to provoke genuine reactions of shock and disgust.

Evil Dead Trap - Watch Your Step
Shiryo no wana, better known as Evil Dead Trap in the US might look like a Japanese ripoff of Saw. You couldn't be more wrong, the movie came out in 1988, 16 years before Saw. The movie was so popular in Japan that it spawned two sequels. It starts out as an over the top slasher movie, but about halfway through the movie it goes beyond over the top into the realm of insane. You can't go wrong here; blood, gore, and did I mention that some of girls in the movie are Japanese porn stars. In this scene, a crossbow is attached by wire to a door handle. The door opens and an arrow shoots at poor Mako, who is tied up and gagged. It doesn't end there, watch the scene yourself to find out what happens.

Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies - Tight Squeeze
There are three types of movie lovers in the world. The first only like movies that have a good script or plot. I call this group of people Movie Snobs. Snobs label most movies as "predictable" and care about the characters as if they were their own mother. The second group of movie lovers really don't give a shit, they don't give a shit about the plot, they don't give a shit about the characters, they just want to be entertained. I labele them as Movie Slobs. Slobs love toilet humor slapstick comedies like Dumb and Dumber or Grandma's Boy, but don't really have the patience for low-key comedies like Sideways or Little Miss Sunshine. Most of us are in the third group, dubbed the Movie Buffs. We have a more open mind, we love the serious character driven dramas, but we also like those slapstick comedies. Buffs love all kinds of movies. Buffs are the ones with the huge DVD collections, they're the first ones that show up on Tuesdays to get the free "thing" that comes with the newest DVD at Bestbuy. They know what they like and what they wouldn't. But, the thing that all three have in common is their love for movies. Everyone has their own preferences, but maybe we should all be more like the Buffs. Girls, go watch that new action movie that came out. Guys, maybe catch that new chick flick to make her happy, who knows, you might like it.......maybe.
So, not sure if your a snob or blob? TAKE THE TEST.......if you are NOT entertained by the above clip from Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies. Then you are a snob, I mean come on....that is just hilarious.

Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth - DJ Gets Scratched
In this scene from Hellraiser 3, Pinhead crashes a Nightclub and makes his presence known. After unleashing the hooks and chains on some party goers, Pinhead goes after the DJ. He levitates 5 CDs and launches them in the DJ's head, wraps some chains around his eyes and shoots another CD in his mouth to finish him off. Guess he's not into Heavy Metal. You can always count on the Hellraiser series for good movie death, especially the kind that make you cringe. Why can't people just leave that puzzle box alone?

Scream - Blood, Guts, and Rose Mcgowan's Ass, It's Why We Love Movies
What's great about movie deaths is that they're....well movie deaths, it's fictional. No one really dies, in fact deaths in movies are extremely exaggerated. Explosions are bigger, knives are sharper, and bullets are more powerful. In in this example, garage doors are pretty damn strong. In this scene from the original Scream, Tatum Riley goes out to the garage to get some more beer for the party. After encountering the killer she scuffles with him then tries to escape through the cat flap in the garage door. Bad move, her ass is so big she can fuckin' fit ! So the scream guy flicks the garage door switch and her head gets crushed by the roof. Great scene, extremely exaggerated but great. The garage door wouldn't support her weight and her head probably wouldn't make a loud squish noise after caving in, but who cares! Movies are made for our enjoyment and real life is pretty boring compared to it. We want to see limbs fly and heads explode, but not in real life. That's why we love movies, because we can escape to a fantasy world where heads are easily chopped off and the chicks are all hot. So sit back and enjoy some movie deaths.

The Last Crusade - He Chose Poorly
The particular thing that makes this movie death so great is that normally dying of old age is pretty boring, but not this one. Our bad guy Walter Donovan picks a cup from the assortment of holy grails, takes a sip, and starts aging rapidly in front of Elsa as she screams in horror. The scene was created using time-lapse and puppets with different stages of decay. The end result is one memorable scene.
